All models are wrong, but some are useful ~ (Georg Rasch / George Box, et al)
Keeping in mind this quote, that every model I can imagine or construct is inaccurate on some level, even if it’s merely the language I use to describe it, opens my mind to discovering more useful systems. When I take what is digital (language), create an abstract version of what the digital is attempting to signify using only analog (sigils), new connections, patterns, relationships and interpretations might be discovered while converting back into digital (language).
The Mission
To empower passionate creative artists and visionaries to share and enliven useful information to inspire environmental and community relationship building with place. The intention of the Conceptual Mandala is to capture and illustrate diverse frameworks of thinking; Biodynamic Agriculture, Permaculture, Chinese Medicine, Medical Astrology, Teas, Herbs, socially constructed systems and more are at the forefront of this potentially unlimited series. Printing on nearly all recycled and environmentally mindful methods, Conceptual Mandalas are prepared for multi-lingual audiences within a few weeks by Stumptown Printers in Portland, Oregon (www.stumptownprinters.com). The elements of every print are mindful of our fragile environments and also support a non-toxic environment for the talented people who print each piece.
The Intention
To share crucial information that promote resiliency and empower local and international cultures, simultaneously encouraging the opportunity for any system to be illustrated. Everyone becomes a stakeholder by purchasing a print, either directly from the artist or in a local store. To celebrate the 1,000th Conceptual Mandala sale, every mandala sale from the artist will allocate 25% into various funds. This will generate significantly compounding resources in communities around the world that have an abundance of desire and need, yet no financial resources to foster resiliently collaborated beneficial change.
Semiannually, 25% of all Conceptual Mandala sales from the artist will be distributed into the following fund pools after the 1,000th sale of the first edition printing of the Chinese Medicine Conceptual Mandala:
10% to SCBCP Fund – Sustainable Community Building Creative Projects Fund:
This semiannual fund allows for artists and visionaries to apply for scholarships and grants to pursue their dreams, while creatively synthesizing environmentally and community minded paradigms. Any scholarships will be awarded when the sun enters the sign of Aries, the spring equinox, roughly March 20th, of each year. Applications received will be limited to 10, with 1 or 2 that will receive the biannual scholarship. Click HERE to check the status of this fund.
10% to ENCNPO Fund – Environment and Community Non-Profit Organization Fund:
This fund is donated semiannually to various Non-Profit Organizations that I feel are doing amazing work to promote environmental and community resiliency programs. Included on the list, are organizations that help empower the underserved, homeless, veteran programs, placemaking activities and more. 3% to the STM Fund – Sustain The Mission Fund:
This fund provides support for audiences that lack sufficient resources to attain Conceptual Mandalas at full price. This fund also distributes a small lifetime percentage to individuals who assist in co-creating or translating each Conceptual Mandala. To learn more about the STM Fund, click HERE.
2% to the CCT Fund – Co-Creator & Translator Fund:
A wise man once said, give credit where credit is due. For those who wish to work together and help answer the artist’s questions about the elements of a system and the artist conceptually illustrates these into a Conceptual Mandala, the co-creator(s) and / or translator will receive 2% of all retail sales of that print. If you are interested in co-creating a Conceptual Mandala, please Contact Me.
